Objective of course
Students have the ability to analyse early music or music from 20th and 21th centuries both from scores and aurally and have an understanding of the stylistic features of these periods. They are acquainted with literature on the musical analysis of these periods and are capable of independently developing their skills in the field of music analysis. As an alternative to these objectives, becoming acquainted with the basics of group theory can be chosen at the student's discretion. Students are able to analyse music from different periods systematically, are capable of conceptual analysis and of expressing the analysis in a literary form. They have the ability to apply their knowledge and skills to practice.

Course contents
Either early music, music of the 20th and 21st centuries or group theory.
- in-depth analysis of music or fundamental group theory
- literature on the analysis of music
- comparison of performances

Teaching methods
Written and oral exercises in musical analysis, discussion, group work, summaries of literature.

Assessment methods
Assignments finished during the course and participation in the different
work forms of the course will be assessed. Teacher assessment,
peer review and self-evaluation of assignments.
