Defining the Product ProjectLaajuus (5 cr)

Objectives

Students learn to create product definitions and to apply their technical skills in an entity consisting of many different areas from many fields of technology. The students learn definition techniques, ideation methods and to produce a technical product definition.

Content

The product project begins with the definition phase, where goals are set for the project and the schedule and resources are defined. The result is a literature essay and project plan. In the literature essay, the students present already existing solutions and implementations which are relevant to their topic. The project plan lists milestones, their schedule and the required resources. The team gets organised.
Working methods are reading literature about project work, familiarisation with project software and project background materials and related literature. The team meetings go over the results of the previously agreed tasks and agree on further actions. Each team member is aware of the tasks of the other team members and collaborative learning takes place when students present their results to each other. The students begin writing their diaries right away.
