Objectives

Students learn the basics of applied research.

After completing the course students will be able to
- define research plans
- set research problems
- select a suitable type of research
- select a suitable data collection method
- form adequate questions and other measures needed
- apply research evaluation criteria
- describe the principles of quantitative data collection
- prepare quantitative data to data matrixes
- describe distributions, differences between groups, and connections between variables
- interpret results of statistical methods and know the principles of statistical reasoning
- make use of statistical software
- describe the basic characteristics of qualitative research
- describe the most common collection methods of qualitative data
- analyse qualitative textual data and present the results
- describe the basics of case and action research
