Objectives
The course supports and guides the student when starting the studies, integrating into them, and creating group cohesion.
Upon completing the course, the student
- can plan and commit to their own personal study plan
- becomes oriented to studying in a University of Applied Sciences in Finland
- becomes oriented to studying Finnish language at their individual level
- becomes familiar with library services, knows the most common databases in their field, and becomes skilled in searching for evidence-based information
Content
- completing personal study plan discussions with teacher tutor
- completing personal Finnish language study plan together with the Finnish language teacher and committing to the plan
- consistently participating in tutor sessions
- familiarizing with the curriculum and progression of Tokasa degree programme
- getting to know and integrating into the study group; establishing and committing to group rules
- developing skills in using library services and various databases
- active participation in career planning, tutor sessions and personal study plan discussions throughout the student's studies
Assessment criteria, pass/fail

Student
- participates in the orientation week
- completes personal study plan and commits to it
- completes personal study plan for Finnish language and commits to it
- actively participates in career planning, tutor sessions and personal study plan discussions throughout the student's studies
- participates in the information search session
Fail
Student
- does not participate in the orientation week
- does not complete personal study plan and/or deviates from it
- does not actively participate in career planning, tutor sessions and personal study plan discus-sions throughout the student's studies
- does not participate in the information search session
