Teacher as an Actor and Influencer in SocietyLaajuus (5 cr)

Objectives

After completing the study unit, the student teacher is able to
- define the role of education in the development of society
- operate in national and international networks for developing learning and professional environments
- describe the ethical principles and values of a teacher’s work and act accordingly
- operate in educational and professional communities and networks in a manner that is culturally and ethically sustainable
- assess questions related to data security and operate safely in digital environments
- review data critically and use it in appropriate and creative ways
- identify current phenomena and actively operate in a manner required by the situation.

Content

Opintojakson aikana etsitään vastauksia seuraaviin kysymyksiin:
- Millainen on suomalainen koulutusjärjestelmä ja mitkä ovat sen tehtävät?
- Mitkä ovat koulutuksen tehtävät muuttuvassa työelämässä ja yhteiskunnassa sekä kansainvälisesti?
- Millainen on opettajan työn arvoperusta sekä eettinen ja yhteiskunnallinen vastuu?
- Miten erilaiset ajankohtaiset yhteiskunnalliset ilmiöt vaikuttavat opettajan työhön?

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

The student passes the study unit if they have demonstrated competencies described in the learning outcomes. If the student has not achieved the learning outcomes or supplemented their competencies in the manner agreed on, they will fail the study unit. The grounds for the assessment criteria are described in the document ‘Pedagogical principles in professional teacher education’. The assessment criteria are derived from the learning outcomes presented in the implementation plan for the study unit.
