Music Instruction in Primary Education (5cr)

Objectives

Students have skills and knowledge needed in the music instruction at primary schools. They have psychological knowledge of a child´s growth and knowledge of music learning. They are able to treat children individually and choose methods for learner-centered diversive individual needs. They are able to make logical instruction and lesson plans.

Content

- making acquaintance with various materials for music instruction in primary education, and learning and teaching methods
- making teaching materials according to the needs of the pupils and groups
- comparing little children´s learning abilities with those of the children at school age
- teaching experiments and teacher training in various learning environments
- analysis on the own teaching and making changes on the basis of feedback from the teacher tutor
- year planning
- interaction with the pupils´ parents
