Objectives

- perform different basic laboratory analysis and function tests reliably and in a client-oriented manner
- can collect reliable laboratory samples concerning preanalytical requirements
- assess reliability of results and quality of measurements
- use professional knowledge for laboratory work and understand fundamentals of working
- know information systems of the clinical laboratory
- guide patients and health care staff in taking preanalytical requirements into account
- take care of the patient's safety and wellbeing during examinations
- develop their cooperation skills in a variety of interaction situations
- work in multiprofessional work environment and develop laboratory work
- take ethical, moral and economical issues into account in decision making
- can act according to rules of work community
- master the basic skills in laboratory work (preanalyse, analyse, and/ or patient tests and postanalyse) and quality assurance after the training period

Content

Contents for basic competences of each specialities.
Special fields for all students: clinical hematology, immunohematology, clinical chemistry (including sample taking) and clinical physiology and neurophysiology.
Optional or depending on clinical training place: Clinical microbiology, histo-cytology, molecular biology.

Prerequisites

The student must have passed professional studies of each specialities.
