Students
- master independent monitoring of pregnancy and recognise symptoms of irregular pregnancy and can refer to follow-up treatment on demand
- advise and activate pregnant families and families with children on healthy ways of life
- interview pregnant and newborn families supporting their early interaction using family-centred, empowering and reflective working methods
- implement public health nursing during puerperium
- implement breast feeding counselling, sexual health counselling, and family planning and provide support for individuals and groups
- evaluate and support parents in their interaction with children
- use various approaches and methods in public health nursing being aware of the needs of families
- follow up and evaluate growth and development of healthy children, and vaccinate children in a safe manner
- recognise situations and families where children’s psychosocial development is at risk of becoming disturbed, and are able to use various intervention methods
- refer clients of child health clinics to follow-up on demand
- understand the role of public health nurses as experts of families’ wellbeing in multiprofessional networks and groups
- acknowledge intercultural dimensions in working with health issues in families
