Objectives

The students know the basic principles of stage planning and are able to take into account the active and contextual possibilities of a performance. The students know the dramatic structures of a performance and, through text analysis, are able to model the dramatic structures with regards to light and sound. The students can analyse the interaction between light, sound, performer and the space.

Content

In the workshop, the students include virtual, aural and visual elements to a play. They break down and analyse a play script using the tools given. In the preplanning stage, the students find and produce idea material on which to base the design. After the students have defined the design elements, they demonstrate the relationship and interaction between light, sound, space and the performer. Preplanning and demonstrations are carried out in light and sound work pairs.
