Objectives

After completing the study unit, the student is able to
- use, assess and develop various teaching and guidance methods in various learning environments based on students’ needs for special or demanding special support
- apply the principles of inclusion, accessibility and participation
- take cultural diversity into account and act in a language-sensitive way
- adhere to the regulations and instructions that direct assessment
- provide instructive and encouraging feedback
- identify their own ethical principles and reflect on their ethical actions as a professional special needs teacher
- develop their professional identity as a professional special needs teacher.

Content

During the study unit, we will seek to answer the following questions:
- How are individual study paths implemented while strengthening the student’s agency and involvement?
- How can you use the principles of inclusion in the work of a professional special needs teacher?
- How do teachers take cultural diversity into account in teaching and guidance?
- How do you assess the learning and competencies of a student?
- How do you give instructive and encouraging feedback?
- On which ethical principles is the identity of a professional special needs teacher based?
- How does the professional identity of a professional special needs teacher develop?

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

The student passes the study unit if they have demonstrated competencies described in the learning outcomes. If the student has not achieved the learning outcomes or supplemented their competencies in the manner agreed on, they will fail the study unit. The grounds for the assessment criteria are described in the document ‘Pedagogical principles in professional Special Needs Teacher Education’. The assessment criteria is derived from the learning outcomes presented in the implementation plan for the study unit.
