Description
COMPETENCES DEVELOPED
The degree programme in health promotion is based on working life and it is comparable with equivalent degrees in other EU countries (EQF, level 7). The focus of the degree programme is on evidence based nursing in the health promotion of aging people. The degree programme gives qualifications and competence to develop health promotion of aging people and work as an expert and manager for social and health care organization in different environments on working life. After the graduation students are qualified to apply for vocational teacher’s education or other public positions, where Master’s level education is required.
PROFESSIONAL STATUS
The degree programme gives qualifications to work as manager, expert or developer in health promotion of aging people.
The advanced studies in occupational health care educate experts on health and wellbeing promotion of working-age population for social and health care organisations. They can develop work communities and/or work as superiors.
The master’s degree offers the same qualification for posts and positions in the public sector as master’s degrees completed in universities.

Curriculum development and working life cooperation
Curricula are developed together with working life, other Universities of Applied Sciences and other Master's programs in Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
Different co-operation projects in working life are included in the program, such as Thesis projects. There are also regular meetings and networking with working life in the field of health promotion of aging people.

IMPLEMENTATION
Multifaceted teaching methods are used, including two days of contact teaching monthly. Multifaceted teaching methods are used: lectures, independent study, virtual studies, project studies and a Master's thesis.
