Description

COMPETENCIES
With the training, the student achieves theoretically in-depth knowledge under Biomedical Laboraotry Science and the skills to acquire researched knowledge as a basis for action. During the studies, the student learns to critically evaluate the activities and development of their field. Upon graduation, the student will be able to develop activities based on evidence and taking into account international development trends.

In education, the student achieves competence in the Master's Degree Programme in Social Services and Health Care, which is comparable with equivalent qualifications in EU countries (EQF 7). A higher university of applied sciences degree produces the same qualification for public posts and positions as a higher university degree.

EMPLOYMENT INVESTMENT OF THE MANUFACTURED
The training provides the skills needed to work in development, expert and pre-service positions in various workplaces in social welfare and health care. International experience in education shows that clinical experts are placed in a wide variety of tasks and projects requiring expert knowledge and development expertise.

BASIC VALUES
Clinical expert in education students deepen their critical examination of ethical activities in their field and deepen their knowledge in the assessment and decision-making related to clinical laboratory work.

Students base their activities on evidence-based knowledge and take different perspectives into account in their activities, such as sustainable development.

Students are able to work in their profession both independently and in multidisciplinary co-operation with different actors, while respecting the skills and expertise of others. Students appreciate the continuous development of their own operations, themselves and their own field, and follow the development of the field nationally and internationally.

STRUCTURE OF STUDIES
Advanced Studies 30 ECTS
Free Choice Studies 30 ECTS
Thesis 30 ECTS

The free-choice studies are selected by the student according to their own interest and schedule, for example, from the joint studies of TAMK.

Objectives

The aim is for the student to gain knowledge on the following themes:
• development of expert identity
• development of operations and work based on evidence
• development of laboratory quality management
• guidance of healthcare personnel and patients
• ethical data management and data utilization of Biomedical Laboratory Science
• digitalisation of the field

Curriculum development and working life cooperation

The curriculum is developed in cooperation with TAMK's other Master's degree programmes. In addition, there is joint development work and joint implementations together with other universities of applied sciences in the national network.

Part of the teaching can take place in English.

The revised curriculum has been approved 29.4.2024 by the Council of Higher Education.
