COMPETENCIES DEVELOPED IN THE TRAINING
Welfare and health technology is part of a rapidly developing field of innovation and exports both in Finland and internationally. The training provided in the field guarantees a high level of competence for the demanding needs of working life, which are subject to constant regulatory changes. For example, the new Medical Devices Directive, which will enter into force in 2021, will create a huge need for professionals in the sector, as companies in the sector should increasingly have a regulatory and product development expert on their payroll. Health technology shoulders have a global responsibility, as ever-increasing healthcare spending can best be offset by new, innovative equipment and processes. Developments in the sector will increase the accessibility of services and care, as well as enable eco-social development by reducing prejudices related to new technologies.

Welfare and health technology solutions maintain and improve people's quality of life, well-being and health. New technologies, digital services, artificial intelligence, robotics and data analytics have become big new things in people’s lives within a few years. The difference between well-being technology and health technology is small. Health technology includes hardware and software as well as other solutions that have been rated medical devices, and all other technologies can be incorporated into wellness technology. TAMK's wellness technology training addresses both, but the emphasis is on health technology.

The aim of the training is that the student is able to act independently in demanding expert tasks in the field of wellness technology and to work with different people in international cooperation networks, taking into account cultural, community and ethical aspects. The training will provide the ability to lead teams to solve complex and unforeseen problems in the industry. These solutions can be used to generate new information in the field and to develop social and health activities.

Key competencies that students accumulate include customer orientation, documentation of regulatory requirements for health care equipment, acquisition of technological solutions for health and social care, ICT solutions for health / well-being technologies, and service business expertise for the well-being sector.

EMPLOYMENT OF GRADUATES
Individuals graduating from wellness technology training can be placed as wellness technology experts, development managers, project managers, application / systems experts, equipment managers (in the hospital), wellness technology coordinators, and designers.

THE VALUE BASE OF EDUCATION
Welfare technology refers to various technical and technological solutions that maintain and improve a person's quality of life, well-being or health. In addition, well-being technologies refer to the systems used by the personnel of organizations to guide and evaluate their operations and management. The values of education are based on life cycle thinking, sustainable development and ethics related to well-being and health technologies.
