Objectives

Students are able to:
· participate in writing a contract
· choose various payment terms and payment guarantees
· prepare themselves for the situations and dispute resolution related to by the contract
· work in negotiation teams
· take into account legal regulation of public procurement, data protection, artificial intelligence and intellectual property rights
· act in global legal operating environments

Content

Student knows the basics of contract law in selected countries and know few model contracts for manufacture, assembly and consulting of technology products. Students know the sales and purchasing negotiations process in an international environment, know how to prepare for negotiations and conduct themselves in demanding sales and purchasing process as well as can take into account contemporary business law issues. Students also know the most common negotiation tactics how to prepare in advance.

· contract models for various cases and the most common contract problems
· commercial dispute resolution
· synchronizing contract, cash flow and delivery
· contemporary business law issues
· negotiation process in the international environment, negotiation tactics and preparation before negotiations
· several case lectures by industry representatives who present examples and solutions to international challenges

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student recognizes the basic principles of general contract law.
The student understands basic differences in contract law between different legal cultures (eg civil law versus common law) and dispute resolution (eg national court vs. arbitration).
The student recognizes different negotiation tactics and the main features of the negotiation process in an international environment.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student understands the basic principles of general contract law.
The student understands the fundamental differences in contract law between different legal cultures (eg civil law versus common law) and dispute resolution (eg national court vs. arbitration) and is able to apply the lessons learned in working life and working in an international environment.
The student understands different negotiation tactics and the main features of the negotiation process in an international environment.The student is able to apply the lessons learned in working life and in an international environment.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has an excellent understanding of the key principles of general contract law.
The student understands the fundamental differences in contract law between different legal cultures (eg civil law versus common law) and dispute resolution (eg national court versus arbitration) and is able to apply the lessons learned excellently in working life and in an international environment.
The student has an excellent understanding of different negotiation tactics as well as the main features and key operating methods of the negotiation process in an international environment. The student is able to apply the lessons learned excellently in working life and in an international environment.
