Objectives

On this course, students familiarize themselves with the basics of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and energy and environmental simulation. The course provides sufficient foundations for using modeling and simulation software, enabling students to deepen their expertise in these areas in future studies and professional tasks. Upon completing the course, students will be able to:

• Describe the needs and benefits of building information modeling (BIM)
• Utilize BIM and energy and environmental simulations
• Use a variety of IT tools for building dimensioning, modeling, and document preparation
• Maintain the integrated building information model
• Conduct energy and environmental modeling

Content

Principles of model-based design and maintenance of interdisciplinary building information models. Utilization of databases related to information models and dimensioning tools. Basics of energy and environmental modeling.

Prerequisites

First-year studies in the Electrical Building Services Engineering program or equivalent knowledge.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student recognizes the fundamental principles and purposes of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and energy modeling software and is able to handle simple modeling tasks.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student can effectively use Building Information Modeling (BIM) and energy modeling software as tools to support design work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can proficiently use and apply a variety of Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools, describing their significance and possibilities in high-quality building services engineering and overall project design.
