Objectives

The students gain an understanding of quality thinking, quality management of a company and quality assurance in construction. The focus areas are: principles, functions and execution of quality control on-site. The aim is to combine quality with the production design and implementation.

Content

Quality thinking, quality functions of an enterprise, quality in construction and quality assurance practices on sites. The quality assurance operations carried out by the different parties in construction. The contractor’s steps to ensure the quality of both the whole site as well as each individual task.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student understands what quality is all about and plans for quality assurance. The student understands the importance of documentation in the construction industry.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student understands what quality is all about. The student can search for information on quality requirements from different sources. The student knows how to make the most common quality plans and knows the most common procedures for quality assurance and control.
The student understands the importance of documentation in the construction industry and knows the basic principles of good documentation.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student understands what quality is all about and is able to develop quality assurance methods and plans. The student has comprehensive knowledge of different quality assurance practices and is able to draw up quality assurance plans covering the entire site.
The student understands the importance of documentation in the construction industry and is able to produce and develop documentation in many ways.
