Objectives

The goal of the study module is to provide basic skills for working independently as a public health nurse in health promotion for the adult population in various settings, including occupational health care.

Upon completing the course, the student:
• Is capable of assessing the specific characteristics and health significance of the work and/or operating environment.
• Is able to identify factors affecting the holistic well-being of working-age and/or elderly individuals and discuss them in health check-up situations.
• Is able to provide information, counseling, and guidance on health-promoting matters for working-age and/or elderly individuals, supporting the client's work and/or functional capacity through dialogue.
• Is able to apply evidence-based information and/or reporting data in planning, implementation, and evaluation of client-centered activities at the individual, group, and community levels.
• Is able to understand their role in work-age and/or elderly health nursing and collaborate in interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Is able to work systematically and collaboratively with clients according to jointly formulated goals.
• Is capable of implementing healthcare for working-age and/or elderly individuals according to preventive principles.
• Is able to act ethically, impartially, and confidentially in their work.

Content

Supervised clinical training: Public Health Nursing of Adults and the Elderly / Occupational Public Health Nursing.

Prerequisites

Participation in the course “Public Health Nursing: Adult Health Care” and "Occupational Health Care"

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

Pass:
The student:
• can assess the specific characteristics and health significance of the work and/or operating environment in collaboration with different stakeholders.
• can independently conduct health check-ups and identify factors influencing the client's well-being, discussing them openly.
• can provide information, counseling, and guidance on health-promoting matters and identify key needs for supporting the client's work and/or functional capacity.
• can apply evidence-based information and/or reporting data in planning, implementing, and evaluating client-centered activities.
• understands their role in work-age and/or elderly health nursing and can function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• can work systematically and set goals together with the client.
• can independently implement healthcare for working-age and/or elderly individuals according to preventive principles.
• can act ethically, impartially, and confidentially in their work.
• realistically assesses and evaluates their own actions.

Fail:
The student:
• cannot assess the specific characteristics and health significance of the work and/or operating environment under guidance.
• cannot independently conduct health check-ups or identify factors influencing the client's well-being.
• cannot provide information, counseling, and guidance on health-promoting matters or identify the client's needs for supporting work and/or functional capacity.
• cannot apply evidence-based information and/or reporting data in planning activities or work in a client-centered manner.
• does not recognize their role in work-age and/or elderly health nursing or function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• cannot work systematically or set goals collaboratively with the client.
• cannot independently implement healthcare for working-age and/or elderly individuals according to preventive principles.
• does not act ethically, impartially, and confidentially in their work.
• does not recognize the limits of their competence, jeopardizing client safety with their actions.
