Objectives
During this course, students will develop their expertise in methods for promoting the health and workability of working-age individuals, workplaces, and communities, as well as understanding the impact of work on health. Students will also learn how to plan actions that supports health in collaboration with others.
Upon completing the course, the student
• knows the core processes of occupational health care and is able to implement them in changing occupational health care environments
• is able to apply key regulations, principles of good occupational healthcare practice, and ethical guidelines in their work.
• is capable of planning and implementing health nursing work that promotes the health and workability of working-age individuals and communities.
• is able to assess the impact of occupational exposures, workload factors, and resources on individual and community health.
• is able to develop necessary action proposals to promote client health and evaluate the effectiveness of occupational health care in good collaboration.
Content
• Legislation governing occupational health care, good occupational health practice, and ethical principles.
• The operational environment, core processes, and reimbursement practices of occupational health care.
• The workplace survey process, activity planning, and impact assessment in occupational health cooperation.
• Identifying workplace exposures, workload factors, and health significance assessment.
• Multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral collaboration cooperation.
• Work ergonomics, occupational medicine, and occupational hygiene; key occupational diseases and illnesses.
• Health examinations in occupational health care, health promotion, guidance, and counseling.
• Workability assessment, management, and early support, as well as promoting well-being at work.
• Occupational health-focused healthcare.
Prerequisites
Students must have completed 135 ECTS credits of nursing studies and participated in the study course The Basics of Public Health Nursing.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student
• understands the core processes of occupational health care and comprehends the operational environment of occupational health care
• can identify some key laws related to occupational health care, principles of good occupational health practice, and ethical guidelines
• is capable of planning public health nursing work that promotes the health and sustains the workability of working-age individuals and communities
• knows the impact of certain occupational exposures, workload factors, and resources on individual and community health
• recognizes the significance of action proposals and effectiveness assessment as part of promoting client health and fostering effective occupational health cooperation
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student
• understands the core processes of occupational health care and implements them in occupational health care environments
• can name key laws related to occupational health care, principles of good occupational health practice, and ethical guidelines
• is capable of planning and executing public health nursing work that promotes the health and maintains the workability of working-age individuals and communities
• can identify the impact of occupational exposures, workload factors, and resources on individual and community health
• can plan some action proposals for promoting client health and plan effectiveness assessment in occupational health cooperation
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student:
• understands the core processes of occupational health care and knows how to implement them in evolving occupational health care environments
