Objectives
The objective of the course is to provide basic skills to work independently as a health nurse in school and student health care.
Upon completing the study module, student
• Can interact with students and/or students from various life situations and cultures, as well as their families/close ones, and enhance their skills in health-promoting health discussions.
• Can conduct health examinations and screening tests for students and/or students and refer them for further treatment if necessary.
• Identifies the needs for supporting the health of students and/or families and can apply client-centered health-promoting methods in the study environment.
• Understands the role of a health nurse in functioning as an expert in health promotion in the school or student community and in multidisciplinary networks.
• Can apply their knowledge and skills in the treatment of chronic illnesses in students and/or the most common healthcare needs of students.
• Can administer vaccines and provide guidance on infectious diseases and vaccinations to students and their guardians as well as students.
Content
Supervised Clinical Training in the work of a school and student health nurse.
Prerequisites
Participation in the courses Schoolchildren and Family / Student Public Health Nursing.
Assessment criteria, pass/fail
Pass:
• Can professionally and respectfully encounter students and families and/or students and their close ones.
• Can independently carry out health examinations and screening tests for students and/or students and plan further treatment.
• Can interpret the results of health examinations and screening tests and identify possible needs for health support.
• Can apply client-centered health-promoting methods in the study environment.
• Understands the role of a health nurse as an expert in health promotion in the student community and in multidisciplinary networks.
• Can apply their knowledge and skills in the treatment of chronic illnesses in students and/or the most common healthcare needs of students.
• Can administer vaccines and provide guidance on infectious diseases and vaccinations to students and their guardians as well as students.
• Adheres to confidentiality obligations and data protection guidelines.
• Realistically examines and evaluates their own actions.
Fail:
• Insufficient professional, respectful encounter with students and families and/or students and their close ones.
• Unable to independently carry out health examinations, screening tests.
• Cannot plan further treatment under guidance.
• Cannot interpret the results of health examinations and screening tests and does not identify key health support needs.
• Cannot use client-centered health-promoting methods in the study environment.
• Does not recognize the role of a health nurse as an expert in health promotion in the student community and in multidisciplinary networks.
• Unable to apply knowledge and skills in the treatment of chronic illnesses in students and/or the most common healthcare needs of students.
• Unable to administer vaccines and provide guidance on infectious diseases and vaccinations to students and their guardians as well as students.
• Violates confidentiality obligations or customer data protection.
• Does not recognize the limits of their competence, endangering customer safety with their actions.
