Prerequisites (course unit)

The secondary level of the second language (Swedish) is required to pass the Baccalaureate (equivalent to the B language course in upper secondary school) or equivalent. The entry level corresponds to the European reference skill level B1.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2) (course unit)

The student understands the main points in easy professional texts regarding their work
* The student can communicate in a simple manner in situations typical to the work community
* The student can use the basic vocabulary of social work and health care
* The student is able to use the basic grammar structures

Assessment criteria, good (3-4) (course unit)

The student is able to find and use the most important professional publications of their field
* The student can communicate clearly enough in situations typical to the work community (patient instructions)
* The student is able to use and understand the most important vocabulary and concepts of social work and health care
* The student mostly uses grammatical structures correctly

Assessment criteria, excellent (5) (course unit)

The student is able to find, use and apply even fairly challenging professional publications of their field
* The student can communicate fluently in situations typical to the work community
* The student is able to use and understand even more challenging vocabulary and concepts of social work and health care
* The student uses complex grammatical structures nearly flawlessly

- understands and is able to utilize professional articles in their field in Swedish-language publications
- is able to record the key issues related to the customer's situation
- is able to maintain, develop and evaluate his / her own language skills and language learning skills as part of his / her professional competence
- have attained a written command of a second foreign language required by the law of the polytechnic required for the work in the relevant field;
