Objectives
In clinical training, the student applies the knowledge and skills learned in theory to practice.
After completing the course, the student:
• can plan, carry out, document and evaluate radiotherapy of cancer patients under guidance
• can carry out appropriate radiation protection of patients, staff and other people in radiotherapy
• can act appreciatively and respectfully towards patients and their relatives as well as co-workers
• is interested in learning radiotherapy, are able to reflect their own skills and have a positive attitude towards continuously developing themselves
Content
• clinical training in radiotherapy department according to students personal aims
Prerequisites
• accepted theoretical studies of the study module
• adequate knowledge in Computed Tomography Examinations
• Clinical Trainings according to the personal curriculum must have been done
Assessment criteria, pass/fail
Pass:
• acts according to the radiographer's ethical instructions
• shows initiative and is cooperative
• can guide the patient and can as a member of a team plan, carry out, document and evaluate radiotherapy of a cancer patient
• can guide the patient and can function as a member of the team in situations related to radiation protection (patient, staff, escort and working environment)
• can operate radiological and radiotherapy equipment safely and appropriately
• is able to create confidential interaction and care relations with the patients
• works according to radiation safety
• is able to do realistic self-assessment, receives feedback and instructions
Fail:
• does not follow agreed working hours
• withdraws repeatedly from learning situations
• does not get through directed of the most general radiotherapy treatments
• endangers patient safety repeatedly
• does not follow privacy protection procedures
• does not observe an aseptic way of action
• there are factors which endanger safety in the use of radiological and radiotherapy equipment
• there are repeatedly shortcomings in situations which are related to radiation protection
• does not show interest in his/her own learning related to radiotherapy
• cannot act professionally in the work community
