Objectives

In this course you will deepen your competences in gynecological midwifery care.
This course will prepare you to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights as a midwife and care pervasively for a gynecological client or patient.

After completing this course, the student
• knows pervasively how to protect the fertility of youth and young adults
• knows how to promote women’s sexual and reproductive health
• knows the risks, diseases, and treatment of women´s sexual and reproductive health
• knows midwifery care in gynecology
• knows the ethical principles in sexual and reproductive health and gynecological midwifery care, and how to act according to them
• knows the care of women who are victims of sexual violence

Content

• fertility protection
• women's sexual and reproductive health promotion
• early pregnancy complications and their treatments
• pregnancy termination
• infertility diagnostics and treatment
• gynecological diseases and their treatment
• care of victims of sexual violence

Prerequisites

The student must have completed the nursing studies except the Bachelor’s Thesis. The student cannot participate until Supervised clinical training 1-7 and all theoretical and clinical nursing studies are completed. 

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student
• knows the main points of fertility protection of youth and young adults
• knows superficially what is included in women’s sexual and reproductive health promotion
• identifies the risks, diseases, and treatment of women´s sexual and reproductive health
• knows midwifery care in gynecology superficially, and is not able to reason it
• recognizes ethical principles in sexual and reproductive health and gynecological midwifery care superficially
• knows the care path of victims of sexual violence

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student
• has good knowledge of fertility protection of youth and young adults
• knows what is included in women’s sexual and reproductive health promotion
• knows the risks, diseases and treatment of women´s sexual and reproductive health
• knows midwifery care in gynecology
• recognizes ethical principles in sexual and reproductive health and gynecological midwifery care, and knows how to act according to them
• knows the basics of care of victims of sexual violence

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• has pervasive knowledge of fertility protection of youth and young adults and related literature
• knows how to promote women’s sexual and reproductive health
• knows pervasively the risks, diseases and treatment of women´s sexual and reproductive health
• masters midwifery care in gynecology
• knows the ethical principles in sexual and reproductive health and gynecological midwifery care, and how to act according to them
• knows the care of victims of sexual violence
