Objectives

The student
- is able to assist anaesthetist in the demanding operations during labour and to work as the instrument nurse in emergency caesarean section
- knows breech delivery and shoulder dystocia manoeuvres
- knows how to assess the status of newborn baby and the risks to wellbeing during and after birth
- recognizes abnormalities in the status of newborn baby
- knows how to resuscitate the newborn baby
- knows how to suture the perineal tears according to the scientific evidence and knows the suture techniques
- is trained in ctg interpretation

Content

- perioperative training in simulation
- breech delivery and shoulder dystocia in simulation
- observation of a status of newborn baby in simulation
- resuscitation of a newborn baby
- perineum suturing with continuous technique
- ctg interpretation based on cases

Prerequisites

Participation in courses on Midwifery during Childbirth, Orientation to Midwifery during Childbirth and Supervised Clinical Training 9, Midwifery during Childbirth I.

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

Pass
The student
- is able to implement midwifery safely in the abnormal deliveries
- follows the professional and ethical rules

Failed
The student is endangering patient safety
