Objectives
In this course, you will learn to assess the need for care and initiate appropriate treatment for obstetric and gynecological clients in emergency care.
After completing this course, the student
• is able to independently assess the condition of a woman who has suddenly fallen ill and initiate proper and adequate treatment
• is able to identify obstetric and gynecological situations and emergencies and act accordingly
• knows the safe care of out-of-hospital childbirth for the well-being of the mother and the newborn
• knows how to take care for a newborn and a woman who has given birth

• knows the most common gynecological and obstetric emergencies
• can describe the specific features of emergency care in women's care, childbirth, and in newborn care and adjust actions accordingly
• can manage an out-of-hospital delivery safely for the woman in labour and the fetus
• knows how to safely transfer the delivering or delivered woman and the newborn to the hospital

Student
• does not recognize the most common gynecological and obstetric emergencies
• cannot describe the specific features of emergency care in women's care, childbirth, and newborn care, and cannot adjust actions accordingly
• cannot manage an out-of-hospital delivery safely for the delivering woman and the fetus
• does not know how to safely transfer the delivering or delivered woman and the newborn to the hospital
