In this course, students deepen their competence in patient care and multidisciplinary leadership in healthcare situations.

After completing the course, the student

Out-of-Hospital Emergency Care for Acutely Ill and Injured Patients
• Mastery of the knowledge and skills required for advanced-level paramedics
• Ability to provide emergency care based on reliable evidence

Assessment of Care Needs and Guidance in Out-of-Hospital Emergency Care
• Can systematically assess the out-of-hospital patient, perform necessary emergency care procedures, evaluate the effectiveness of the care provided, and anticipate potential complications or changes in the patient's condition
• Can provide guidance to the patient or their close relatives

Operational Leadership and Functioning in the Pre-hospital Care Team
• Can safely and appropriately use communication, messaging, and reporting methods used in pre-hospital care
• Can anticipate occupational safety risks and ensure the safety of the environment and pre-hospital care operations
• Understands pre-hospital care teamwork, task division, and operational models in various pre-hospital care situations
• Can function as a paramedic in police and rescue-led missions, major disaster and multi-patient situations, and understands the roles of pre-hospital care in CBRNE situations

Service System and Stakeholder Collaboration in Pre-hospital Care
• Can describe the tasks of pre-hospital care as part of the patient's social and healthcare treatment chain
• Understands the significance of the pre-hospital care service level decision in operations and the roles of different authorities and stakeholders
• Acts as an expert and can collaborate with social services, healthcare home care services, and emergency services

Prerequisites

The basic skills of emergency care must be fully mastered. Participation to theoretical studies of advanced level prehospital emergency care

• Ability to provide emergency care based on reliable evidence
• Can systematically assess out-of-hospital patients, assess their care needs, and make a working diagnosis
• Familiarizes oneself with documenting out-of-hospital patients and secure information transfer
• Can provide guidance to the patient or their close relatives
• Can safely and appropriately use communication, messaging, and reporting methods used in pre-hospital care
• Can anticipate occupational safety risks and ensure the safety of the environment and pre-hospital care operations
