Objectives
The aim of the course is to develop basic knowledge in clinical neurophysiology and neurophysiological tests taking quality and patient safety into account.
After completion of the course the student:
• knows the basics of EEG-recording
• knows the basics of sleep studies
• knows the basics of testing the neuromuscular system (ENMG)
• knows the basics of evoked potential tests
• knows the basics of neuromodulation in the field of clinical neurophysiology
• is able to guide the patient in clinical neurophysiological tests taking into account preanalytic factors
• takes into account quality management and patient safety related to neurophysiological tests.
Content
• Clinical neurophysiology as a specialty
• Electrical activity of the brain and recording of brain activity (EEG)
• Basics of sleep, the most common sleep disorders and sleep studies
• Function and recording of the peripheral nervous system and neuromuscular system (ENMG)
• Evoked potential tests
• Neuromodulation in the field of clinical neurophysiology
• Quality management and patient safety in the field of clinical neurophysiology
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student:
• is able to define basic concepts and tests of clinical neurophysiology
• is able to guide the patient in clinical neurophysiology tests according to instructions
• understands the importance of quality management and patient safety
• takes responsibility for their own learning and participates in the activities of the group
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student:
• analyses the basic concepts and tests of clinical neurophysiology
• is able to guide the patient in clinical neurophysiology tests individually
• understands the importance of quality management and patient safety
• is motivated to develop their expertise and is actively involved in the group activities
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student:
• analyses, combines and compares the basic concepts and tests of clinical neurophysiology
• applies what has been learned and takes individuality into account when guiding the patient in clinical neurophysiology tests
• understands the importance of quality management and patient safety and strives to find solutions to them
• is highly motivated, actively develops their competence in a goal-oriented manner and also takes responsibility for the group's activities
