Objectives

After completing the course, the student will be able to:
• work collegially and promote good team spirit.
• plan and organise their work in a responsible way, taking care of the working environment.
• use instruments, equipment and materials properly.
• carry out all stages of orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances.
• carry out orthodontic treatment procedures in accordance with the responsibilities of the oral hygienist.
• promote the oral health of the orthodontic patient.
• perform examination for patient with temporomandibular disorder and assess the need for treatment.
• carry out temporomandibular care by the oral hygienist in preventive and multidisciplinary rehabilitative procedures.

Content

Treatment with fixed orthodontic apliances
Orthodontic treatment procedures in accordance with the responsibility of the oral hygienist
Promoting the oral health of a patient in orthodontic care
Examination and assessment of treatment needs of patient with temporomandibular disorders
Temporomandibular preventive and multidisciplinary rehabilitative oral health care in accordance with the responsibility of the oral hygienist

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

Accepted:
The student demonstrates mastery of the learning outcomes of the placement and completes the tasks assigned for the placement.

Fail:
The student does not meet the pass criteria.
