Objectives

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the information retrieval and writing skills required for their studies, as well as with the profession of dental hygienist. The course provides an introduction to the knowledge base, work environment, and career opportunities of dental hygienists.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
• Explain the ethical foundation and professional responsibility of their own field.
• Adhere to healthcare data protection and security standards.
• Describe the evolution of the dental hygienist profession.
• Outline the competency areas of dental hygienists.
• Identify various career opportunities for dental hygienists.
• Recognize the changing operational environments in oral healthcare.
• Understand the professions and collaborators in oral healthcare.
• Utilize library services, locate necessary study materials, and retrieve information from them.
• Critically assess the opportunities and limitations of artificial intelligence usage, and employ it responsibly following the guidelines of the university community.

Writing Communication (1 ECTS)
• Write a problem-based text in a formal style following TAMK's reporting guidelines

Assessment criteria, pass/fail

Approved:
The student has actively participated in the teaching and completed the tasks of the course according to instructions. The student has demonstrated the ability to seek information as instructed. The student is able to follow the basic principles of writing related to studies according to TAMK's reporting guidelines.

Failed:
This course will result in failure if the criteria for approval are not met.
