Objectives

On this course, the student applies and deepens their knowledge acquired in other degree program courses as part of a multidisciplinary project team that coordinates its own design documents. Upon completion of the course, the student:

• Can define the different stages of HVAC and plumbing design process and the criteria for drafting related documents.
• Deepen the knowledge acquired in courses related to electrical building systems through an applied design project and create the necessary design documents for a specific facility.
• Can seek solutions to challenges or learning needs by utilizing various sources of information.
• Works in a project-oriented manner as part of a multidisciplinary design team and evaluates their own work.
• Collaborates with other design entities.

Content

Project Management and Scheduling.
Preparation of contract-level design documents for the building's electrical network and electrical systems in a commercial property.
Application of documentation principles learned in different courses related to electrical systems.
Working in a project team, timely acquisition and provision of information.
Coordination of design.
Building Services Task List.

Prerequisites

The first two years of studies in Electrical Building Services Engineering or equivalent prerequisites.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student can mostly dimension and design the electrical network and basic systems of a commercial property, but the solutions are schematic and partly incomplete.
The student manages the tasks mostly according to the agreed schedule.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student can dimension and design the electrical network and basic systems of a typical commercial property. The student documents their work within the agreed schedule, utilizing design tools extensively. The student collaborates cooperatively and responsibly.

The student can investigate the role of electrical systems in meeting energy efficiency requirements and explore the possibilities of local small-scale power plants. They can plan the property's electrical network to be suitable for small-scale production. The student considers cost-effectiveness as part of the design.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can, with justification and independently seeking information, dimension and design the electrical network of a commercial property as part of the building services, collaborating with other professionals. The student actively contributes to group work, promoting cooperation and developing responsibly.

The student can investigate the role of electrical systems in meeting energy efficiency requirements and explore the possibilities of local small-scale power plants. They can plan the property's electrical network to be suitable for small-scale production. The student considers and investigates the cost-effectiveness of the acquisition and operating costs of electrical systems.

Further information

The course is completed in collaboration with students from HVAC Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Building Architecture degree programs. Collaboration in design teams has already begun in the previous fall on the course "Project Management in Design." If you haven't participated in that course, please contact the responsible teacher for this course no later than the first session.
