The student is able to
- analyse the basic structures of production, transfer and distribution of electric energy as well as calculate the key quantities in electrical networks
- interpret electrical drawings and documents
- describe disturbances in an electrical network and ways to protect it
- name the key electrical machines and describe their working principles and the main principles of electric drives and their key components.
Content
The Finnish electricity supply, the structure of the production and consumption of electricity, the structural principles and key components of electrical networks, overvoltage protection, power quality. Short circuits in the electricity distribution network.
The key features of transformers and the most common electrical machines. The structural principles and components of electric drive systems, the basic structure and components of electric motors.
