The student is able to
- describe and identify the functions of basic passive components in electronics
- explain the working principles and applications of a diode, transistor and thyristor
- define the special features of electronic devices as part of an electric circuit e.g. disturbance, protection
- make connections of electronic components as well as measure them and report the measurements
- describe the fundamentals and applications of digital electronics
- carry out basic measurements safely as well as analyse the results
Content
Basic electronic components and their functions. The function of diode, transistor and thyristor.Electronic rectifier and its function. The transistor as a switch. Protecting electronic equipment. Computer simulations. Supervised laboratory work, use of measuring devices and reporting. Number systems, Boolean algebra, logical gates, basic digital connections.
