Content

Constructional frames of multistorey housing and office-/commercial buildings. Principles of dimensioning used in multistorey buildings. Architecture of structural systems.

Joints between building envelope and structures. Flat roofs, roofs used as traffic layers and green roofs. Exercises of detail planning based on constructional solutions. Exercises are related to design project of multistorey building and its technical solutions.

Finnish building regulations and acts supporting the course contents. Basics of fire regulations.

Project work.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Student has a weak understanding of the structures and properties of building materials and quality factors included in the course. There are clear gaps in the displays of student competence.

Activity during the course and assignments are weak or satisfactory, and the deepening of the exercises is superficial.

Student takes responsibility for his own performance.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Student knows the structures included in the course and the properties of the related building materials. He understands the quality factors of construction, devotes himself to practice work, and demonstrates his good skills in skill demonstrations.

Activity in the course and assignments is good. Work progresses consistently during the course. Student knows how to cooperate responsibly and is ready to develop his interaction skill.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student understands and knows comprehensively the structures, properties of building materials, differences and quality factors included in the course.
