Objectives

The students gain the basic skills regarding construction field and its siginificance in society. The students familiarise themselves with the organisations and companies and legislation of the industry. They gain more skills in becoming a professional in the field of construction.

Content

Orientation week, introduction to UAS studies. Developmet of construction industry in Finland and internationally. Basic skills of well-being. Information sources of construction, land use and construction legislation. On-going construction sites and drawings. The students also take the test for the occupational safety card.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student is able to identify and define the basics of the course and solve simple questions
applications that are similar to the tasks being handled.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

In addition to the above, the student is able to choose the most suitable one by applying and comparing different options

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the above, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the course topics and their use
problem solving; and the ability to present, analyze, and justify logically handled issues and methods of solution.
