Objectives
This course introduces the importance of quality, quality management and quality systems in companies, especially in different types of laboratories. The course covers the quality assurance and validation of analysis methods, and the development and maintenance of quality in the operating environment of laboratories.
After completing the course, the student
• understands the importance of quality management in the company's operations
• knows how quality management is implemented in the laboratory
• understands the importance of quality assurance and the correctness of laboratory results
• understands how to validate analysis methods
• knows the principles of quality assurance of laboratory tools and equipment
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student understands the meaning of quality management and quality assurance. The student knows what is meant by quality systems and knows the most important quality-related terms. The student understands at a basic level how quality assurance is implemented in laboratories. The student understands what is meant by validation.

The student understands the importance of quality management and quality assurance for the company and especially for laboratory operations. The student knows the laboratory's quality systems, and can explain quality terms. The student knows how quality assurance is implemented in laboratories. The student understands what validation means and knows the steps of the validation process.

The student has developed an overall picture of quality management. He understands the importance of quality assurance for the company and especially for laboratory operations. The student has versatile knowledge of the laboratory's quality systems and can comprehensively explain and use quality terms. The student knows how quality assurance is implemented in laboratories. The student understands what validation means, he knows the steps of the validation process and knows how to evaluate the implementation of the validation.
