Objectives

Upon successfully completing the study module, the student will:
• have an understanding of the functional principles and concepts of industrial robots, as well as their application areas.
• be able to assess the suitability of robotics for process automation, taking into account technical, economic, and sustainability aspects.
• have knowledge of the impact of legislation and standards on the design requirements of robotic systems.
• be capable of creating simple robot programs.
• be familiar with the key areas of robot system design and able to participate as a part of a team engaged in robotic cell design.

Content

The basic concepts of robotics and the key selection criteria for industrial robots. Fundamentals of motion control in industrial robots. Robot safety and the essential safety standards related to industrial robot systems and their design. On-line and off-line programming as well as simulation of robots. Planning and implementation of robotic projects.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student recognizes basic concepts of robotics and uses of robotics. The student performs robot programming tasks as an assistant or as part of a group.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Students are able to apply the most important concepts of robotics and identify potential applications of robotics. The student is able to independently design and implement basic robot programming.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student understands the wide-ranging entities of robotics, generalizes, analyzes, looks for different solutions, and works constructively in the group.
