Objectives
The student can produce product data for machine components, such as 3d-models, assemblies and drawings, with quality sufficient for industrial use. The student understands the iterative and open character of design process and uses standards and suppliers’ technical sheets to search for information. The student sees what kind of design tasks can be automatized. The student understands the importance of product development in product lifecycle management and masters basic use of product data management system.
Content
3D modeling of demanding parts and assemblies, model based definition, drawings, product lifecycle and data management
Prerequisites
Student has basic skills to model and draw machine components with CAD.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student can produce 3d models, assemblies and drawings with assistance. The student sees the importance of quality in product data and can use product data management system with assistance.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student can produce mostly high-quality 3d models, assemblies and drawings. The student can automatize simple design tasks and can use product data management system.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student can produce high-quality 3d models, assemblies and drawings. The student can automatize various design tasks and efficiently utilizes product data management system.

Course implementations use CAE software specified by the teacher, e.g. Siemens NX
