Objectives

The student
• Knows the main principles of the mechatronic engineering process
• Is able to design and execute customer and end user related mechatronics systems by following good design practices
• Is able to document the design and development project
• understands the importance of modeling and simulation in the design of complex systems
• Can utilize different modeling and design tools in the development of mechatronic systems and devices
• is able to model and simulate dynamic systems and analyze their behavior
• knows the basics of motion control and servo system
• is able work as a member of design team.

• The main principles of systematic mechatronics design approach
• The use of modeling and simulation tools as a design support
• Mathematical modeling and analysis of dynamic systems
• Basics of motion and servo control

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student knows the main principles of mechatronic system design and can use several supporting design tools in the design process. The student understands the importance of modeling and simulation in the system design. The student is able to execute the the given tasks with assistance. The student can work as a member of a project team.

The student knows the main principles of mechatronic system design and can utilize supporting design tools in the design process. The student can apply modeling and simulation tools in the system design and analysis. The student is able to execute the the given tasks and justify the solutions. The student is an effective part of the design team.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student knows the main principles of mechatronic system design well and can utilize supporting design tools in the design process. The student can apply modeling and simulation tools in the system design and analysis. The student is able to execute the the given tasks and justify the solutions. The student is to work as a team leader.
