Objectives

The student will be able to list the different types of pavements to be used on roads and yards and to select the type of pavement, traffic volume, traffic distribution, environment and other needs to be considered.
The student knows the methods of designing and manufacturing different types of coatings and the methods of applying them and knows the research methods and quality requirements of raw materials and finished coatings.
The student also knows the life-cycle thinking of structures.

Content

Basic concepts and titles of coating technology.
Aggregates; features, tests and requirements.
Binders; features, tests and requirements.
Manufacture, mixing and removal of dust.
Transport, distribution, sealing, storage, monitoring.
Leveling, coating and coating methods.
Samples, Repairs, Impairments, and Errors.
Other bituminous coatings.
Concrete, concrete stones, stones and other coatings.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student can identify and define different types of pavement.
The student understands in which situations different coverings are used.
The student understands the pavement cycle process.
The student recognizes various paving work errors.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

In addition to the previous one, the student knows how to choose the right pavement type for different locations and understands the principles and dimensioning of pavement type selection.
The student knows how to measure the right grit size for the right pavement.
The student understands the meaning of various paving work errors.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the previous one, the student has a comprehensive understanding of pavement technology.
The student knows how to choose and measure different pavement types and materials for each site.
The student knows how to plan the correction of various paving work errors.
