Objectives

The students learn the basics of site and civil engineering surveying techniques and surveying tasks. They learn about maps and coordinate and elevation systems and can manage the simplest geodetic calculation works. During the course the students learn how to handle the normal geodetic surveying instruments and also carry out exercises with them. The main surveying tasks are levelling works and working with total station.

Content

Surveying concepts, angle units, coordinates, maps, coordinate and elevation systems the basics of geodetic calculations, planimeter, level and levelling, total station and working with it.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student knows well the following areas and is able to demonstrate his / her skills in the test session; national geodetic coordinate and altitude systems (both new and old), angular units used for surveying, and angular and distance measurement methods, as well as common geodetic calculations, leveling tasks and leveling calculations.
He/ she knows how to use a planimeter, a leveling device and a tachymeter.
Skills shortcomings in the above areas are allowed, but one third of the areas mentioned must be mastered in order to complete the course.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student knows well the following areas and is able to demonstrate his / her skills in the test session; national geodetic coordinate and altitude systems (both new and old), angular units used for surveying, and angular and distance measurement methods, as well as common geodetic calculations, leveling tasks and leveling calculations.
He/ she knows how to use a planimeter, a leveling device and a tachymeter.
Some shortcomings in the abovementioned areas are allowed.
