Objectives

The student designs and implements sustainable land and subsoil structures using refined soil and industrial by-products. The student knows the functions of soil contamination, ways of spreading contaminants, research methods related to contaminated land and conventional treatment techniques. The student becomes familiar with the ground and cover structures of landfills. The student knows the factors affecting the water permeability of structures.

Content

Contaminated soil; causes and spread of pollution, research and repair methods. Groundwater protection at roads. Landfill bottom and surface structures. Use of industrial by-products and recycled materials in construction. Life cycle model and sustainable development.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

- The student knows general things about contaminated land and landfill structures.
- The student is able to list industrial by-products and recycled materials that are commonly used in construction.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

- The student knows the most common methods for researching and repairing contaminated countries.
- The student understands the criteria for landfilling.
- The student knows the surface and bottom structures of a landfill and their significance in the environmental impact of the landfill.
- The student knows the principles of using recycled materials in civil engineering.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- Ed. in addition, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the course topics and their use in problem solving as well as the ability to present, analyze and reason logically solutions.
