Objectives

The student knows how to effectively use the 3D design program and the PDM/PLM system integrated into it, as well as various simulation and optimization possibilities in the design and product development process.

The student recognizes the importance of product structures, the drawing markings of welded and machined parts, and the boundary conditions related to cost-effective manufacturing.

The student recognizes the different design "states" of the product and understands the basic concepts and functions of the PDM/PLM system.

Content

In the study course, a modular product family is designed, which effectively uses ready-made components in the PDM system, and the critical parts of the product are optimized with different simulation methods to optimize weight and durability, and production images of the planned pieces with the necessary drawing markings are produced.

In the course, you will learn about demanding 3D laser scanning and refine the scanned point cloud to achieve a surface and volume model.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Identifies the methods used in different design tasks and performs the assigned tasks under guidance/assistance. The student recognizes the importance of strength calculation and simulation in different phases of design.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Able to apply what she has learned in different stages of planning, and can independently apply theses and software used in planning and simulation.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student recognizes and effectively uses modern design methods and knows how to apply and produce almost error-free design data in a PDM environment.

Further information

Design and product information management programs that work in TAMK's environment are used, as well as simulation programs that can also be installed on your own computers.
