Objectives

The aim of the course is to develop knowledge of the use of chemicals in the process industry.

After completing the course, students will be able to
• name the chemicals used in industry and identify their uses and effects
• select the right chemicals for each application

Content

Chemicals for the chemical and bioproducts industry: fillers, inerternal sizing agents, retention agents, optical brighteners, dyes, defoamers, alum sulfate, colorants, pH control, water treatment

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Students can identify the most important chemicals used in the process industry and name their uses in processes.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Students can explain the properties of the main chemicals used in the process industry and can compare the use of different chemicals in their application.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has a comprehensive understanding of the most important chemicals used in the process industry and can evaluate their use in different processes.
