Objectives

The aim of the course is to deepen knowledge about the phenomena and equipment of the most common unit processes in chemical engineering. The course provides skills to work according to good laboratory and production practices.

After completing the course, the student can
• describe the most common phenomena of unit processes in chemical engineering and their management
• take into account various aspects of safety in their work
• search for the information needed in the work in the field's literature and information systems
• work as a team member
• write a technical report and analyze the results

Content

Laboratory works concerning mechanical, chemical, heat transfer and mass transfer unit operations using laboratory-and pilot-scale equipment.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student has completed all the laboratory work and reports. The student is able to carry out laboratory work related to mechanical, chemical, heat transfer and mass transfer unit processes and interpret the results.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student has completed all the laboratory work according to the objectives and within the timeframe and has demonstrated a fluent working style. Reports have been written in accordance with the instructions. The student has performed well in the exam.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has completed all the laboratory work according to the objectives and within the deadline. The student has demonstrated a smooth working style and a guiding hand in his/her team. Reports are finalised. The student's answers in the exam are well-founded.
