Objectives
The aim of the study course is to provide the skills to examine the factors affecting the packaging manufacturing process and the selection of packaging material, taking into account the different levels of packaging. The course develops competence holistically, taking into account the requirements set by the supply chain.
Objectives:
Student
• knows and can identify the most important paper and cardboard products and can describe their manufacturing techniques.
• knows how to choose the most suitable raw materials for different converted products and justify their use in different end products
• can look at the packaging solution and the product as a whole, and understand the importance of the packaging solution (including different levels of primary, secondary, tertiary packaging) in the product supply chain
• knows the requirements set by the supply chain, as well as customer and end-use requirements.
Content
• Paper and cardboard converting processes and raw materials (fiber raw materials, polymers, adhesives, metals) and product properties, other general packaging materials
• The post-treatment process of converting
• The requirements set by the supply chain
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student knows how to name the different packaging materials and the sub-processes of packaging, understand the basic functions of packaging, the general requirements set for product packaging, the importance of packaging in the product's supply chain, and the key environmental aspects related to packaging. The student can name new bioproducts.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student is able to name different packaging materials and packaging sub-processes, understand the basic functions of packaging, the general requirements for packaging products, the importance of packaging in the product distribution chain and the key environmental aspects of packaging. They can compare different packaging solutions and assess their suitability for packaging different products. The student will be able to describe new organic products. The student will work actively in a group.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Students can critically compare different packaging solutions, evaluate their suitability for packaging different products and consider how packaging could be developed to improve the functionality of the product, for example in the distribution chain. The student will work actively and in a varied group.
