Objectives
The goal of the bachelor's thesis is to develop and show the students’ ability to apply their knowledge and skills in the practical expert tasks relating to their professional studies. During the bachelor's thesis process the students prove themselves to be capable of working independently, of applying what they have learned and of learning new things independently.
Content
The bachelor's thesis may be a designing task, development task, clarification task or a research task. The chosen topic is typically related to the students’ professional studies.
Typically the bachelor's thesis consists of the actual work, a written report and an oral presentation of the work, the engineering work seminar.
In order to receive the polytechnic degree, the students must write a maturity test about their chosen field of final thesis. The maturity test shows familiarity with the field and the skills in Finnish or Swedish. The students will also present the work in a seminar.
Content
Regarding the bachelor's thesis process, the 3th and 4th year students will be informed about the seminars, language teaching etc. separately. Educational methods: self study/distance learning, diary (learning diary, project diary, work diary), coursework, summary report/essay, collective learning and seminar.
Prerequisites
Basic studies and professional studies linked to the bachelor's thesis subjects.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
