Objectives

The aim of the course is for students to deepen their Swedish language interaction and communication skills needed in working life, and to be able to cope with a wide range of oral language situations in their field.
On completion of the course, students will
- master an appropriate and varied vocabulary for conversational situations
- be able to respond, listen and maintain a conversation
- use correctly structured and comprehensible communication
- be able to adapt to different language environments
- take into account the impact of cultural factors on communication.

Content

The content of the course is as follows:
- various oral negotiation situations and meetings in working life
- Oral negotiations in different types of negotiation situations
- telephone situations
- speech making
- presentations
- business travel and restaurant situations

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student communicates with a limited vocabulary in predictable situations and sometimes has difficulty understanding the flow of the conversation. The student has difficulties with pronunciation. The student uses more general language than specialised vocabulary in his/her field. His oral communication needs further support, guidance and encouragement, but he is able to overcome the simplest interaction challenges. The student will pass the learning tasks.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Students are active and able to express themselves clearly and coherently, even if there are occasional small gaps in communication. The student is able to follow a conversation, respond appropriately and support his/her interlocutors. The student's pronunciation is generally good. The student has a wide vocabulary and adapts his/her interactions to the situation. The student performs well in learning tasks.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students are highly active participants in language situations and are able to solve complex communicative challenges. The student has a wide and varied vocabulary and is convincing in oral expression. The student's pronunciation is very good. The student is able to use vocabulary and express him/herself fluently in unexpected situations. The student performs the learning tasks excellently.
