Objectives

The course familiarises the student with equipment setup planning and safe usage in various types of productions.

After completing the course, the student
- knows the impact of equipment choices on the production budget and personnel resources
- can choose and use camera equipment that aligns with the production objectives and budget
- can select and use field recording equipment suitable for the task
- can appropriately choose and use lighting, rigging, and camera movement equipment
- manages the safe operation of various equipment assemblies in changing conditions
- can consider the risks, limitations, and opportunities of the working environment in their work

Content

Equipment assembly planning from the perspective of budgeting and resource allocation.
Camera technology and equipment handling.
Sound recording technology and equipment handling.
Lighting technology and equipment handling.
Occupational safety in working with lighting and camera rigging.
Electrical safety.
Risk analysis of the filming location.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student assembles camera and recording equipment under guidance. They can select and set up basic lighting equipment and make necessary electrical connections. The student uses rigging equipment under supervision and independently executes simple suspensions. They assess safety conditions of the filming location and environment.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student assembles camera equipment suitable for production and uses it proficiently. They choose recording equipment and ensure its functionality. The student gathers the required lighting and rigging equipment for the situation and uses them safely. They handle necessary electrical connections and consider the risks and opportunities of the filming location in equipment assembly. The student can take into account production goals and budgetary constraints in equipment selection.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student chooses and assembles camera equipment within budget and aligned with production objectives, using it smoothly and safely. They select and assemble appropriate recording equipment. The student can choose lighting equipment suitable for production goals, working methods, and filming environment, using it safely in changing conditions. They implement safe electrical connections and versatile suspension methods for both lighting and camera equipment. The student pre-assesses the safety factors of the filming location and works purposefully and safely, considering the rest of the team.
