Objectives
The course aims to improve the skills and knowledge to develop innovative and sustainable products and services. After completing the course, the student is able to
• understand the principles of innovation and product and service development process starting from consumer needs and ideation to market launch
• use tools and methodologies for creating innovative products and services
• identify the critical phases of product and service development projects
• incorporate sustainability into the product and service development lifecycle
• understand the importance of the multidisciplinary knowledge

Overview of the product development process; The role of innovation and creativity in textile and fashion industry; Techniques for creative thinking and ideation; IPR and copyright; Design thinking; Prototyping and testing; Sustainability in the textile and fashion industry; Sustainable materials and processes; Life cycle thinking related to product development; Eco-design concept; Business models for sustainable products; Branding and marketing; Market analysis; Pricing; Quality assurance related to product and service development; Case studies

The student understands the basics of product and service development processes and can describe the process in an general level.
The student manages the assigned tasks under supervision/assistance.
The student takes responsibility for studying and is capable of working in a group. The student can give and take feedback.

The student knows well the basics of this course. The student can independently explain the process and show understanding in more advanced level.
The student applies the studied knowledge and skills.
