Objectives
The student knows the history of buildings and structures, so that he can use this information as a starting point for his professional activities.
The student knows the usual damage phenomena and the dangerous and harmful building materials in the building stock to be repaired.
The student familiarizes himself with conventional repair solutions.
The student has an overall understanding of the importance of condition assessments and surveys in the acquisition of initial data for renovation construction.
In the course, the main focus is on the building stock of the 20th century.
The student can:
• describe the importance, special features and differences of renovation construction compared to new construction
• define and explain the main deterioration phenomena of concrete, steel and wooden structures
• evaluate the expected lifespan of conventional house structures and the effect of various design solutions and conditions on it
Content
Basics of renovation construction and starting points of operations, history of the building stock to be repaired.
Key building components and materials in the building stock to be repaired, damage and durability of structures.
Basics of fitness assessments and examinations.
Asbestos and contaminants.

The student recognizes the basics, operating methods and special features of renovation construction.
The student recognizes and knows how to define the history of building stock and structures on a general level, and recognizes different damage mechanisms and harmful materials.
The student knows how to solve basic renovation construction problems under guidance or according to a previously learned model, but does not know how to justify his choices.

The student recognizes and knows how to structure the basics, operating methods and special features of renovation construction.
The student recognizes and knows how to define in moderate detail the history of the building stock and structures and recognizes various damage mechanisms and harmful materials and their importance in the repair project.
The student can apply what he has learned to the practical problems of renovation construction.
The student knows how to solve the basic problems of renovation construction, choose the most suitable repair option or procedure, justifying his choice.
The student understands the importance of condition assessments and surveys in the acquisition of initial data for renovation construction.
