Introduction to Surveying and Building Information ModelingLaajuus (5 cr)

Code: T300DH63

Credits

5 op

Objectives

The student gets an overview of the entire field of work in land and building surveying technology. He / she learns maps, coordinate and elevation systems and performs the simplest geodesy calculations. The course teaches how to use the most common measuring instruments and performs measuring exercises. The focus of the measurement exercises is leveling and radial measurements using the tachymeter. Basic information about satellite positioning and terrain.

The student will gain an overall understanding of the design methods enabled by information and communication technologies in the construction industry. The student understands the theoretical basic features and possibilities of building information models and the principles of data transfer based on data models. In this course, building information modeling is linked to the phases of a building project and to value networks.

Content

Concepts, angular units, coordinate systems, maps, coordinate and altitude systems, basics of geodetic calculation, planimeter, leveling and leveling, tachymeter and basic measurements made with it.

Building Information Modeling Basics, Data Communication and IFC.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student is able to identify and define the basics of the course and solve simple questions
applications that are similar to the tasks being handled.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

In addition to the above, the student is able to choose the most suitable one by applying and comparing different options
policy and justify their choices.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the above, the student has a comprehensive understanding of the course topics and their use
problem solving; and the ability to present, analyze, and justify logically handled issues and methods of solution.

The student will gain an overall understanding of the design methods enabled by information and communication technologies in the construction industry. The student understands the theoretical basic features and possibilities of building information models and the principles of data transfer based on data models. In this course, building information modeling is linked to the phases of a building project and to value networks.
